Sequencing platform of I2BC
Introduction
The High Throughput Sequencing platform was setup in January 2010 and is available to all academic and industrial users. It handles the complete service, from the preparation of libraries and sequencing to the primary analysis of the data.
It offers its users a wide range of techniques for the preparation of DNA and RNA libraries and their sequencing.
It also offers bioinformatics analyses: mapping and various types of analyses that are defined in agreement with the users at the beginning of each project.
In some cases, for more complex projects, a collaboration can be implemented.
Expertise
The platform’s expertise covers various fields in molecular biology and bioinformatics:
Illumina library construction
* DNA-seq, ChIP-seq
* RNA-seq
* small RNA-seq, miRNA-seq
* Single cell libraries (10X Genomics)
* Customised protocols according to specific needs
Nanopore library construction (collaborative projects)
* DNA-seq
* RNA-seq (direct RNA)
* RNA-seq (cDNA)
* Customised protocols according to specific needs
Sequencing :
* Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT): PromethION; GridION
* Illumina: NextSeq
Equipments
* Short read Sequencing : NextSeq 2000 and NextSeq 550 (Illumina)
*Long read Sequencing : PromethION P2 Solo; GridION (Oxford Nanopore Technologies)
*Single cell: Chromium X – 10X Genomics
*Computing resourses:
- 3 workstations including one with GPU
- High performance computing cluster (I2BC infrastructure) ;
- 2 backup servers belonging to the I2BC located in separate buildings.
Bioinformatics analysis
* Genome assembly :
=> Illumina
=> ONT
=> Illumina + ONT (hybrid)
* Search for genomic variants: SNPs, indels, chromosomal shuffles
* Differential gene expression
* Single cell RNA-Seq analysis
* Detection of modified bases by ONT sequencing (in development)
* Customised analyses according to users’ requests
Update: Sept 2025

Certification / Quality Assurance
Fully committed to the ISO 9001 quality management system, we obtained our first ISO 9001 certification in October 2015, which was then completed by the NFX 50-900 norm in November 2017.
Labels
The platform is recognized by the IBiSA network
