Equipments

The IT infrastructure of the Migale platform is based on Linux servers and a cluster comprising over 4,000 processing cores. More than 400 bioinformatics tools are available for analysing data, either via the command line or through a Galaxy server. An RStudio server is also provided, along with numerous databases.

Formations

Migale organises every year a training programme « Bioinformatics in practice » with 12 to 15 different modules, lasting from 1 to 4 days.

Developments

Migale offers IT development services (databases, websites, etc.) as part of projects with users.

Expertise and main achievements

The main areas of expertise of the platform’s scientists are the analysis of microbial genomics data, including transcriptomic data, as well as metabarcoding and metagenomics; this expertise covers both bioinformatics and biostatistics.

Among key achievements, there are

• easy16S, an interactive and user-friendly web application designed to simplify the initial analysis of microbiome data
• A biodiversity analysis of 46 French PDO cheeses and the link between the microbiota and production methods.
• FROGS, a tool for analysing metabarcoding data.
